When I started living in my apartment, I expected to feel homesick. What I wasn’t prepared for was how much I would miss my dog. Especially coming from a lockdown at home that meant hours on end spent with my dog Cleo, I was not ready to be apart from her for too long.
Luckily, because I only moved about an hour and a half from home, Cleo was able to come for a little day trip visit. Reminder! It is totally okay and perfectly normal to miss home. We all do!
This post is really mostly an update on my happy visit day with my dog, but it should also serve as a reminder that it’s okay to be homesick or miss people (or animals). Remember to give your best friend a call or check in with your family. Maybe even get on a FaceTime call with your pet. Just don’t forget to stay connected to the life you had before you moved to your new home away from home.
As for the update, Cleo came for a visit and we went on a walk all around campus. As you can see, she quickly got exhausted (she’s 12 and walks are getting more and more difficult). After that she got to walk around downtown Santa Barbara and stopped for a little drink of water at something called the “Doggie Oasis”. Overall she had a lovely day doing what she loves most (going for walks) with her family.
