In high school I always played sports, and exercise is very important to me. Especially living in a small apartment in a time when I’m not walking around as much as I used to on a day to day basis, finding a way to stay fit is a top priority of mine. With gyms shutting down (not that I ever loved the gym anyways… working out around a whole lot of strangers – not my thing) a lot of people turned to at home workout alternatives. I must say I was skeptical at first, but Peloton has genuinely changed my life.
When my family first suggested a Peloton subscription I was suspicious. We don’t have a bike or a treadmill or any of that Peloton equipment that I always assumed was necessary. Here’s the thing though: You don’t need any of that. Yes, Peloton still offers online classes that use the bike or the treadmill, but they also have a ton of cardio and strength classes without any equipment at all or maybe just a few weights. On top of that there’s yoga, meditation and stretching, practically anything you could want.
At the beginning of quarantine I started doing Peloton classes on my own to stay fit and get myself moving at least once a day. It started as a good quarantine alternative but it quickly became my go to workout plan. Going out to a gym takes a whole lot of effort that is simply not necessary with Peloton, making it a perfect workout plan for anyone living in a small apartment. I’ve done workouts in my living room, the bedroom and outside on our tiny patio. Peloton is available anywhere!
You do have to pay for a subscription, and this is in no way attempting to be a Peloton ad. I just want to share my newfound obsession with all of you. My favorite way to do a Peloton workout is to start with a warm up, do a few short (10-15 minute) targeted strength workouts and then a stretch. On days when I’m really feeling it I like to add in some HIIT cardio but those are absolutely exhausting. Peloton pretty much is a choose your own adventure workout that comes with fun music, instructors helping you learn new workouts and encouraging you along the way, and a way to track your progress.
The most important thing with working out is finding what is best for you. Peloton is good for that because it has lots of variation and gives you the ability to design your own workout. Maybe that’s what you’re looking for and maybe it isn’t. Either way, I encourage you to get out there and get moving!
